Our primary focus as a club is to equip our members with a greater understanding of quantitative methods in STEM fields ranging from finance to the natural sciences. Because of our semester-long project team framework, you will have the opportunity to explore a multitude of different topics throughout your membership. No matter what topic under the umbrella of STEM you experience with, you can get it through MQC.
What really makes MQC great is the emphasis on community. You'll find that every member who is extremely passionate about their area of interest is equally passionate about introducing new people to it. Through club events and working with your project teams, you'll have the opportunity to get to know and spend time with people from all different backgrounds who share the same passion for CS / Math as you.
One of the foundational goals of MQC is to provide a space where students can comfortably make mistakes and explore new topics without a fear of failure.
By taking steps like eliminating professional dress from meetings and backtesting finance algorithms without real money, we've set out to make sure that there are no external pressures impeding any member's ability to learn.
Founded in 2024, Michigan Quantitative Computing is an innovative project-based club for quantitative computing at the University of Michigan.
